    JOB SUMMARY

    The Land Director plans, manages, and supports all land, farm, and facilities operations at the Agraria Center for Regenerative Practice. This position supervises and supports the Land and Facilities staff in successful stewardship of the Agraria property as it relates to on-site production, conservation, recreation, and economic opportunities. The Land Director will work with other Agraria Teams and working groups in project management, goal setting, and budgetary responsibility. The Agraria Land manager will prioritize the management of land and staff in a way that is sustainable and regenerative for all life.

    RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

    ●        Strategically develop, broaden and implement regenerative land practices at Agraria.

    ●        Supervises Land & Farm and Facilities Team staff including guiding staff hours and goals, providing support and training as needed.

    ●        Facilitates yearly strategic planning for the Land & Farm Team including budgeting, staffing, vision, and goal setting.

    ●        Works with regional organizations, partners, and stakeholders as it relates to the Agraria mission and vision.

    ●        Mentors staff on successful project management and professional growth opportunities.

    ●        Serve on the Leadership Team, Chair the Land & Farm Team and Cross Team Working Groups, and serve as a liaison between Teams.

    ●        Support and/or consult various on-site educational and development initiatives as needed.

    ●        Establishes a safe work environment for staff and works to reduce and address workplace conflicts.

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

    ●      Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Agriculture, or related field.

    ●     Minimum 5 years experience in a professional work environment related to agriculture, conservation, forestry, environmental sciences, or a similar field.

    ●     Minimum 5 years experience supervising staff, interns, and volunteers.

    ●     Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, and organizational skills in a professional work environment.

    ●     Is passionate about and upholds the Agraria mission and principles.

    ●     Has a valid Ohio driver’s license.

    ●     Familiarity with information storage systems, calendar applications, and other relevant software.

    CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES

    ●       Ability to work outside in inclement weather

    ●       Ability to work at a desk indoors for long periods of time.

    ●       Ability to operate agricultural tools and equipment.

    ●       Can safely lift 50 lbs., preferred.

  • DESCRIPTION OF GRAZING OPPORTUNITY

    The Agraria Center for Regenerative Practice (Agraria) is seeking an experienced grazer to lead our rotational grazing site starting in 2022. Agraria is a registered 501c3 non-profit agricultural education center located just outside of Yellow Springs, Ohio. Our mission is to "cultivate community resilience by modeling regenerative practices that restore ecosystem health, heal our relationship with the land, and grow just and equitable food systems."

    We're excited to announce our rotationally grazed pasture will be ready for grazing in the spring of 2022 and we're currently accepting applications from interested grazers.  Agraria will request the grazier maintain and operate the pasture as an educational site, offering at least two training workshops a season. Pasture rental price can be negotiated.

    Position Description: "Agraria Center for Regenerative Practice is looking for a passionate individual who is interested in regenerative agriculture, supporting local BIPOC farmers growing healthy food for their communities and the region, and strengthening the local food system. The job responsibilities are as follows: conduct research on BIPOC Farming Network needs and assets; perform outreach efforts to expand the Network; develop our online Resource Hub; develop partnerships with aligned organizations and groups; design and pilot programming and events; plan for and participate in organizational events and meetings."

The job responsibilities are as follows: perform outreach with Agraria’s existing partners and develop new partnerships with food system leaders comprising the full spectrum of our food system, from production, distribution, aggregation, and processing to consumption, enterprise and economic development, and health; document the assets of the local food system to create a Regional Foodshed Guide; develop a plan to expand Agraria’s farm capacity; create volunteer training materials and prepare training and growing sites; recruit and train volunteers: plan for and participate in organizational events and meetings."

    Position Description: "The Summer Associate will assist with summer camps at Agraria and at Melrose Acres, a Center for Urban Agriculture in South Springfield. Studies show that nature-based activities improve mental, emotional, and physical health. In addition, learning gardens have a greater impact on children’s tastes and habits than other types of nutrition education and encourage more healthful food choices. The Associate will assist a Lead Educator during programming for children and families including leading part of the program, helping with set up and clean up, group management and conflict resolution, and communication with parents. They will also maintain educational spaces such as learning gardens and nature play areas. Finally, the Associate will maintain and develop the community partnerships that make these programs possible. Community partnerships are what allow our children’s programs to succeed and reach audiences of highest need."
