Program Overview
The Regenerative Farmer Fellowship (RFF) is a program of Agraria Center for Regenerative Practice in partnership with The Nature Conservancy and Central State University. The first group of six Farmer Fellows, who piloted the program in 2021, were mostly
Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) and represented both urban and rural sites in Montgomery and Clark counties.
During this training, Farmer Fellows will:
● build capacity for their own sites and growing operations
● participate in workshops focused on regenerative agricultural practices and business planning
● tour successful farms and/or markets
● make connections and collaborate with farmers and organizations that support farmers
Participants will be paid $12/hour to allow them to focus on the above activities for 20 hours per week. This 25-week program runs from March 28- October 10. Paid program time will include a weekly meeting and workshop day, farm and/or market tours, and independent time spent on farming activities and business planning that meet the participant’s individual goals.
ABOUT THE 2022 FARMER FELLOWS
Nine individuals with a diverse range of experiences and interests within the field of regenerative growing and within their communities will be invited to participate in the 2022 RFF program. Participants will have expressed interest in growing annual crops, flowers, native nursery plants, agroforestry, perennial crop production, etc. Additionally, participants will learn how to address food security in their communities, more about specific growing systems, building growing capacity at their sites, selling products, business planning and/or meeting other growers. The RFF program will be tailored, whenever possible, to meet the interests and goals of this new cohort.
